We have a message for you
Dear Managers and Directors,
Let’s talk about business. We have a message for you. A message which we hope would be aligned with your vision, or act as a wake-up call that prompt for the right direction. Let’s start off casually. What do you, in the role of managing a business, concern the most?
-
“The model and configuration of your database server machine?”
-
“The number of transaction your relational database can handle?”
-
“The company network authentication is using NTLM or LDAP?”
-
“What it the version of software the users are using? What is the server version? Will support be discontinued for our old version software?”
-
"So we need to reserve budget to upgrade software license? Again? Year after year?!"
“No, no, no!” you are probably saying. I think you’ve already started trying to stop me and if I don't, you would switch to your other faviorite websites. “Information Technology”, a.k.a “IT”, the term that you’ve likely heard of a few times in the past 10 years, has been dominated business culture so much, or even too much. The preferred questions and concerns shouldn’t be:
-
“How should I retain my customers? Who should I retain more?”
-
“Should I expand, or consolidate?”
-
“How are my cost controls doing? How much wasted? How good is the efficiency?”
-
“How to let my potential customer know our new pricing offer and bundle?”
-
“Is my price tag competitive enough? Or is my margin good enough for profit?”
-
“How much do our customers like our new product and pricing?”
But when you sit back and punch on the calculator, after all the money spent on the company’s IT system, are these questions properly answered?
